HOW TO: Salvage Your Bent Bottle Brush Trees
Happy December 1st, everyone! I can’t believe I’m saying this but-
We made it to December 2020.
I know what you’re thinking, it’s a miracle! My goal for myself and for you this month, is to completely submerge myself in this holiday season and soak up every minute. With everything that has happened this year, I think we deserve it. So to kick off the first December newsletter - let’s talk about Bottle Brush Trees. They have been extremely popular the last three years, this year especially you can find them in almost every decor store, including Amazon, Hobby Lobby, and Target. Now while I love the festive holiday trees, they are mostly flimsy, easily moldable, and get DESTROYED when you throw them in your attic after Christmas. If you’re taking out your decor and notice they are completely smushed, please, do not throw them away!
You can salvage them with these easy steps.
What you’ll need:
A fork
A spray bottle
Patience
Step 1
Run your fork under hot water - DO NOT put your Bottle Brush Tree under the running water. The water could potentially harm the color of the tree, or cause the paint to run.
Step 2
“Fluff” the bent bristles against the direction they are bent in. I brush them upward and side to side creating the trees to eventually move back into the direction it was when I bought the tree.
Step 3
Repeat these steps for the next few minutes.
If you have to damp the fork again, that’s okay. I will typically do this for 10 minutes and I promise you it’s worth it! Also don’t beat yourself up if your bristles aren’t reshaping quickly. As long as you are fluffing against the way the bristles are bent, then you’re doing it correctly!
